Description
Architecturally designed, this extraordinary 2019 home with attached studio holiday accommodation sits adjacent to a planned Reserve allowing for rural views and beyond, to the bush clad hills.
With 2 bedrooms in the main house, it was also important for the live-in artist to have her studio inside, where she can pot, sculpt, sew and make her jewellery. She even made room for her own outdoor kiln.
The holiday accommodation is a worthwhile, profitable business (books available to genuine parties). Or keep it just for your teenager, or your family and friends…or your partner! You can have an outdoor bath each (there are 2) and soak in that view.
Great joy can be derived from examining the finer details of this design which is long and open plan, incorporating 6 large, beautiful timber and glass doors that roll all the way back bringing the outdoors in. Occupants can step out to the decks and the lush perma-culture garden, a riotous display of colour mixed with practical edibles. The house has a thoughtful colour palette and uses both paint and tinted plaster allowing for low maintenance interior and exterior care. The Sto Cladding System integrates the insulation and the fire is the high-tech Jayline Ultra Low Emission Wood Fire. The roof line is designed to allow for full sun inside in the winter (passive solar heating) and less in the summer.
Entertaining is easy here. Start with guests relaxing on a deck with more than enough room for an L-shaped sofa. Eat inside or outside under the pergola dripping in passionfruit and grape then, after dinner, move to the rustic wooden benches surrounding the brazier, to toast marshmallows and tell tall stories around the flickering flames. Move back to the sofa, sliding it to the side, pump up the music and dance under the gleaming Milky Way.
Situated an easy 10-minute walk to funky Coromandel Town with its cafés and interesting shops there are also opportunities for fishing, tramping, swimming, beach and walking the dog. 40 minutes to Whitianga, 50 to Thames or drive further north for fun, northern peninsula adventures.
